Pesulan likat / The Steamie

PESULAN LIKAT

Hilpeä draamakomedia - hitti maailmalta!

Pesulan likat on tarina yhteispesulasta Glasgow'ssa. Skotlantilainen hittinäytelmä on kuin työväenluokan Mamma Mia! -musikaali.
On uudenvuodenaatto.

Tavallista arkea pyykkituvalla jossa naiset juoruavat.

Tässäkin näytelmässä on tullut nähtyä totaalisia tippumisia vuorosanoissa. Yksikin kerta jossa kesti oikein kauan päästä taas vuorosanoihin käsiksi mutta kohta onkin erittäin hankala kelle tahansa joten olisi ihme jos siinä kohtaan ei koskaan menisi lukkoon vaikka harjoittelisi kuinka hyvin. Loistavia kohtauksia nekin ja ainakin minä sain uudet mukavat naurut vaikkei ehkä muu yleisö kauheasti mitään huomannutkaan.

Tosin, yksi asia minua harmittaa koko ajan.

THE STEAMIE

Cheerful drama comedy - success from the world!

The Steamie is a stroy about laundry at Glasgow. Scottish success play is like working class's Mamma Mia! musical. It contains about ten going and sometimes wistful songs from different decades. In the middle of laundry mountains there is four women working hard: young Doreen, too straight Magrit, the merrymaker of the crowd, chatty and kind Dolly and frail Mrs Culfeathers. The lively group is completed with mechanic Andy.
It's New Year's Eve. The party night is coming closer but there's still work to do. Laundering will be more nice chattering and in rakish talk they go through children, men, memories and delicious rumours. The mood is rising and work will halt when women start to sing

I've also seen this many times, I would guess about 4-5 times. It was the same for this like it was for Boeing Boeing, I didn't like it at the first time and even less than the Boeing Boeing. But on the second time I have to change my mind again.

It was so different what I had earlier seen that made me dislike it at first. The subject is suprisingly common and there isn't really anything peculiar happening in the play. Just regular weekday at the laundy where women are gossiping.

But this is still so wonderful! Sometimes you laugh and sometimes you cry. Dolly is a very delicious character and Ritva Jalonen is just right person for her. The songs are fabulous and they are well sung. There were my two favourite songs also in the play which was very pleasant suprise when I heard them. The voice of Ritva Jalonen is amazing and I'm still not sure who sung those really wonderful soprano sounds in some songs, was it Natalil Lintala or Laura Alajääski...

I've seen two actors playing the role of Andy. Ilpo Hakala and the guest star... this... um... well, I just can't remember his name anymore O_o He was also good, of course he did the role a little bit differently than Ilpo but I would still say I liked Ilpos performance better.

In this play too I've seen total fallings in lines. One time they had a really hard time to get hang of the lines again but the scene is very hard anyway so it was only a matter of time they get lost with the lines even they had reheased it very well. Those were very wonderful moments and at least I got to something new to laugh although I don't think others in the audience noticed much.

Although one thing is still bothering me. I sat always at back stall and there is just simply hearing problems, especially when Marjut Sariola was speaking. She has really quiet and fragile voice (maybe just because of the charachter also) you just can't hear it at the back of the stall most of the times. And that's really a shame. And if even I have difficulties to hear it I just can imagine the pain of those oldery people who can't hear a word.

I recommend this warmly but I would recommend to try get seats from the front stall.

LENTÄVÄT MORSIAMET

Huippuhauska bulevardikomedia

Hyppää pyörryttävään lemmenkaruselliin!

Ranskalainen poikamies Bernard tapaa Pariisin asunnossaan vuorotellen kolmea rakastajatarta - kaikki kaunokaiset ovat lentoemäntiä. Järjestely toimii loistavasti, kunnes lentoaikatauluihin tulee yllättäviä muutoksia.
Yleisö saa nostaa tuolinsa selkänojan pystyasentoon, sillä tiedossa on melkoinen turbulenssi, kun ovista viuhahtavat suloinen Air France, intohimoinen Lufthansa ja Pan Amin hunajapupu. Bernard turvautuisi jo varauloskäyntiin, ellei hänellä olisi apunaan ystävä Maurice ja tomera keittäjä Marie - ehkä he onnistuvat estämään hätälaskun.

BOEING BOEING

Very funny boulevard comedy

Jump into dizzy love carousel!

French bachelor Bernard meets at his Paris apartment three lovers in turns - all beauties are flight attendants. The arrangement works wonderfully until there's some unexpected changes in the flight schedules. The audience may lift their seats back in upright position because there is going to be quite a turbulence when there's sweet Air France, passionate Lufthansa and Sweet punny Pan Am at the door. Bernard would probably take the safe exit if he wouldn't have help from his friend Maurice and Cook Marie - maybe they can avoid the emergency landing.

I've seen this about 5 or 6 times and this was also the first play I've ever seen on Tampere Theater. At the first time I thought the first half was a little bit boring expect some scenes and the scenes seemed for me to be too long. Then I also got my first impression of the theater and it was, well, I must admit, I were a little bit dissapointed.

But I were wrong!

On the second time I got better hang of it. The first half wasn't boring at all, on the contrary. And those scenes wasn't too long either. And the best, Jukka Leisti was wonderful! Almost everytime. It's a good thing about Leisti he's everytime a little bit different. Although I do remember one time when he wasn't in really good shape and the whole display was a little bit more tired compared to the other acts, but I know if there is two displays in the same day the second one is always a little bit worse than the first, I've been in theater too as an actress so I should know. It's very hard to keep up the right tune the whole day, even for professionals.

It was also admirable to watch actors fall off their rhythm and forgetting their lines or if something happend a little bit earlier than it should have and there's this "what just happend" feeling on the stage but the actors are fixing them perfectly! I doubt only few on the audience really noticed what happend.

I don't think I have to praise Jukka Leisti anymore, others have done it already, but I would like to praise other actors. My favourite was Hildegard which was lovely even just in a character and Katja Tervo was a very good choice for her. So sweet Tuija Ernamo was also a wonderful Marie.

Costumes and sets were lovely. Sounds and lights were also very succeed.

I recommend it warmly! There's laugh and exciting situations. I find myself laughing the same things over and over again and catching breath in the same places although I do know what's going to happen already. And I would watch it again if it would be possible.

Ristinpäivä eli Kevät-Risti / The day of the Cross aka Spring Cross

English below

Ristinpäivä eli Kevät-Risti

3. toukokuuta.

The Day of the Cross aka Spring Cross

The 3rd of the May. The Day of the Cross aka Spring Cross. In many places in Finland The Day of the Cross aka The day of the God's blood was a more remarkable event than the First of the May. The spirits of the deceased were on the move at springs. In the savo karelian area it was a day when they let the cattle out and it concerned a lot of cattle charms and other magical events. Yet in the 17th century in the Karelian houses they spend a family celebration on the Day of the Cross. The family would kneel down the house's sacrifice tree (or sacrifice place) in their best clothes and there they enjoyed beer and different dishes with a ritualic ceremony.

The spirits of the deceased were on the move. At Tammela they "watched while the spirits and the dead were on their passageway". Nobody wasn't allowed to pommel or talk, otherwise the spirits would be restless the whole year. Floors were covered with straws so the spirits wouldn't be scared of the feet stomp. The spirits were remembered on the 3rd, 4th and 5th of the May. On the Karelia they took an egg to the ants' nest on the Day of the Cross. This brings up in mind the belief in Karelia that the eggs would be food of deceased. In Estonia the Day of the Cross was also bigger celebration than The First of the May like in Finland. For estonians there is also some remains of the worshipping the deceased in that day.

The Cross is also a day for the fishermen. Then it was must to get a fish soup even from the hole in the ice otherwise fishing luck would diminish. Also the hunters were circeling their hunting areas these times. They put traps to black grouses in their display areas on the Day of the cross. The ceremonial foods were on the breakfast porrige made of barley cooked in milk and beside it a fish soup. When they got fish there was a saying: "Now we have the Day of the Cross on the plate".

We didn't eat fish soup on that day and that was mostly because my partner doesn't like it. Otherwise there maybe would have been some fish soup on that day because I on the other hand like it very much.

Vapunpäivä / The First of May

English below

Vapunpäivä

1. toukokuuta.

Kyllä me jotain tehtiin.

Tältä näytin / This is what I looked like

The First of the May / Vappu

The 1st of the May. Like the Day of Jyri on the First of May the cows and lambs were let outside even if there would still be snow in the ground. In some places they "clocked", in other words they hang bells on they clothes and ran around the village making a lot of noise. At Kurikka it was told adult women hang bells to their hems and dressed in whatever strange they could find, men did have only one big bell. This rambunctious custom was ment to assist milk supplies. At Satakunta, a region in the Western Finland they played cows bells and yelled "Vappu tuu, Vappu tuu, latoon tuu, tuu-tuun" (Vappu come, Vappu come, come to the barn, co-come / tuu-tuut ). In some places they held also Shout night, they burned the fires and yelled wolves out of the land. On the First of the May they repaired water birds nest boxes hanging by the forestlakes banktrees aka "uuttu" (birdhouse) or "hontto".

Now days the First of the May (Vappu) is workers celebration and especially students are celebrating viciously and the biggest celebrations are, like everything in Finland, in the eve of the holiday but the celebration is of course continueing the next day, atleast by those who are able to. It seems Vappu is now more like a city festival and different cities have their own Vappu traditions. The most common traditions are likely to be Vappu picnic and all the graduated (old and new) putting their graduation hat on in a big celebration in the middle of the city all together accompanied with speeche and other "formal" things. And of course there's a lot of drinking and reveling all the time. Baloons and streamers ("serpentiini", colourful paperstrings) are very important props as all kinds of costumes and other strange wearings. There's mead to drink, doughnuts and funnel cakes to eat and of course a lot of sparkling wine too.

Our The First of The May eve was rambling in the woods with few friends. We went to the Hervanta's Makkarajärvi (Sausace lake) to make campfire, enjoying good company, food, drink and most of all the peace! Not like the other celebrators we didn't want to go to the crowded city where there would be people like ants in their nest. We were also celebrating two of our friends birthdays so we had a princess cake with us and a suitable kids Winnie The Pooh hats on our heads :) The weather was unstabel. The sun was shining and it was warm, next we got rain more and less and it was cold, then again sun was shining and again we got rain. It was like this all the time. But we did still have a great time!

I had made myself some mead for this trip (and as it is Vappu). It succeed well. The whole eve I drank only mead because I had to go to the work later at night. At 12pm we went to Makkarajärvi, at 4pm we started to walk back to our apartment and at 5:25pm I was already in the buss going for work. At 6pm I started my work at the theater's cloakroom and at 9:15pm I got home. I must admit it surely didn't irked me not to spend our Vappus at the city. There were people like ants in their nest! Just shocking! And above all most of them were very drunk. My work was quite ordinary and quiet, except for few drunken troublemakers. Yet still it was really nice to work! Like always.

It did irk me that my Vappu eve end so quickly. When I went to work there still were some friends at our apartmert watchin ice hockey but when I came back home there was only my partner. I were a little bit disappointed, I admit. I were so excited at the buss way at home because I thought now I can start properly celebrate with a good company. When I opend our apartment door it was very silent so I thought maybe they went to the bar after all and then I heard my partner saying hello and I found there wasn't others anymore. That was my Vappu eve.

I must admit I really don't remember what we did in the Vappu... We surely did something. I'm not sure if it was that time we went to my partner's friend and watched a lot of Chthulhu movies and played role board game named Arkham Horror... But I'm not sure. It's this youth dementia :D or is this already initial dementia?

And there wasn't any snow spots left on the ground. There hasn't been snow anymore for a while. Although so was foretelled few months ago.

Huutoyöt ja Jyrin päivä / Shout nights and the day of Jyri

Shout nights and the day of Jyri

Shout nights on the 13th and 22nd of April, The day of Jyri on the 23rd of April. In a small area at the Savo Summerday (suvipäivä) and the eve of the day of Jyri (23rd of April) is called Shout nights. Those times people used to shout to the woods: "Hyvä Jyrki, Paha Jyrki, pane hurtat kiinni suviöistä talviöihin" (Good Jyrki, Bad Jyrki, keep the dogs hold from summernights to winternights). In the same time they made fires on the hills and shepherds playd their horns. This way they tried to drive away spring hungry wolves from the lands for summertime because the day was the old day when they let the cattle out. For the old folk it was a real celebration to let the cattle out to the field and with affording sacrifice they might get the deceased people to be favourable to their growth of grain and for the cattle.

In the middle of the Ostrobothnia they talked there about "jyrynajo" (the drive of the jyry). The children took bells to their necks on the Day of the Jyri and ran around the house and in the nearby forest keeping loud noise. In the Savo and on the northeast Ostrobothnia there were also adults with the children banging woods together to drive the wolves away. At Satakunta they ate ritualistic meal for the beginning of the seedtime work, the headline of the food was the planting breads which were baked for Christmas. Fishermen knew the perch would start their spawning period.

On the day of Jyri you had to agree with silence. Nobody wasn't allowed to work, chop, make noise or bang the doors. Even the hinges of the doors were greased so they wouldn't creak. People did this all because they tried to avoid summer thunder to visit so the crop wouldn't get hurt. Otherwise they did yell a lot all the time. At the woods you coudn't cut any branch on the day of Jyri, if you did this it would stop all the growing for the whole year. (This is quite incongruity to what it was said earlier but there are different customs in different parts of Finland).

At the south of the Savo they hold sacrifice meal. They brewed beer and cooked food which was put to the table early in the morning but they didn't taste them before every dish were put in their own plates as if sacrificed. Then they "drank all day and didn't work". Granander told at the day of Jyri people would sacrifice milk or even whole milk chunks under the sacred trees.  At Savo and Karjala they took a  knapsack of Karelian pasties to someones sacrifice tree. There they made a nail from the rowan which was hit hard into the sacrifice tree and  in the nail they hang the knapsack. They also poured cheese milk on the roots. On the day of Jyri they also sacrificed sheep wools.

Granader says Jyrki has been houshold deity (Hus-Gud) to whom the house family and cattle were in care of. One peculiar custom on the day of Jyri was not to give any items away from the house. Once one house master bought a cow from another house and went to get the cow. But they didn't give the cow to him but said: "Not today, come back tomorrow. We have had this custom a long time here. If we now give you the cow our all other cows will die".

My the day of Jyri went ordinarily. It was a saturday befor Easter so it went with Easter things.

Olen ikionnellinen / I'm so happy

Nopea päivitys. Olen lähdössä Turkuun. Tänään oli Ahlmanin ammattiopiston maatalousalan perustutkinnon eläintenhoitajien pääsykoe. Meni hyvin!

Terve!
