Aloitimme kavereiden kanssa Potter -lukupiirin. Yksi meistä ei ollut lukenut vielä kaikkia Pottereita ja muut halusivat lukea jossain vaiheessa kaikki Potterit uudestaan. Joten tuumasta toimeen ja lukupiiri pystyyn! Olemme lukeneet jo viisasten kiven ja salaisuuksien kammion ja niistä kerron omissa postauksissaan.
Koska tällä hetkellä minä olen ainoa joka ei enää asu Seinäjoella pidämme lukupiirin Facebook messengerin videopuhelun avulla. Ensimmäinen lukupiiri oli erittäin onnistunut ja se kesti jopa puolitoista tuntia! Oli oikein mukavaa!
Kerronpa miten minä tutustuin Potteriin.
Meinasi käydä niin, etten Pottereita olisi ehkä koskaan lukenut, en ainakaan ennen kun leffat tulivat. Vaikea sanoa myöskään olisinko lukenut kirjat jos olisin nähnyt elokuvat ensin.
En halunnut lukea Pottereita ja syy oli suomalaisten painosten älyttömän ruma kansi. No, ei se kansi ehkä enää niin ruma ole kun sitä on katsellut jo monta vuotta, mutta tuolloin 2000-luvun alussa kun Potteriin tutustuin, kannet olivat mielestäni äärimmäisen rumat. En lukenut silloin kauheasti muutenkaan muuta kuin sarjakuvia (ja kuvatekstejä) joten paksun kirjan lukeminen rumalla kannella ei houkuttanut muutenkaan.
Minut kuitenkin pakotettiin. Ystäväni pakotti minut lukemaan ensimmäisen kirjan joskus yläasteella 2000-luvun alussa, kun itse oli ensin jäänyt koukkuun. Kiitos ystävälleni! Mitä olisinkaan menettänyt jos en olisi aikoinaan tarttunut kirjaan. Se vei mukanaan. Se on harvoja paksuja kirjoja jotka olen vapaaehtoisesti lukenut kannesta kanteen tuohon aikaan, ja jonka lukemista jatkoin. Kaikki 7 kirjaa. Se on myös ainoa kirjasarja jota olen todella odottanut. Muistaakseni kolme tai neljä ensimmäistä luin putkeen kun olivat jo ilmestyneet mutta sitten alkoi odotus. Potterit ovat myös ihka ensimmäinen kirjasarja jota aloin keräämään. Joka joulu sain uuden kirjan lahjaksi aina kun uusi kirja ilmestyi.
Itseasiassa viime jouluna hieman petyin. Kuvittelin, että se olisi ollut itsestäänselvyys, että minulle saisi joululahjaksi hankkia uusi Potter. Odotin iloista yllätystä. Sitä ei tosin tullut. En halunnut vartavasten pyytää Kirottua lasta koska siinä olisi mennyt yllätysmomentti pieleen ja kun kuvittelin että sen joka tapauksessa jostain saisin. Mutta luultavasti ihmiset ajattelivat että olisin sen jo hankkinut. Noh, pitää varmaan hankkia se itse tai odottaa seuraavaa joulua. Ehkä odotan seuraavaa joulua, uskon, että saamme muut Potterit luettua siihen mennessä :)
Olen harkinnut Pottereiden hankkimista myös englanniksi. Niin suuri fani olen. Tällä hetkellä en tosin tiedä pitäisikö minun hankkea englanninkieliset Potterit pokkareina vai ostaisinko jopa kuvitetut laitokset englanniksi, joita nyt on ilmestynyt kaksi ensimmäistä kirjaa. Joka tapauksessa haluaisin hankkia kuvitetut kirjat. Ne ovat upeita! Vaikkakin tilaavieviä. Toisaalta taas, haluaisin ostaa kuvakirjat myös ehkä suomeksi koska niitä olisi sitten loistavaa lukea mahdolliselle omalle lapselle. Vaikeaa. Pitää vielä miettiä. Minulla ei ole vielä kiire, koska kuvitettuja Potter kirjoja on vasta Viisasten kivi ja Salaisuuksien kammio. Hinnatkin ehtivät miettiessä tulla alaspäin.

We started Harry Potter reading circle with friends. One of us hadn't read all the Potters yet and others were always saying that they should read them again someday. So we started the reading circle! We have already read The philosopher's Stone and The Chamber of Secrets but I will tell about them in their own posts.
At the moment, we are using Facebook messenger's video call because I'm the only one who doesn't live at Seinäjoki anymore. Our first reading circle session was a success and it lasted about one and a half hour! It was very nice!
Let me tell you how I got introduced into Potter.
It almost happened that I didn't read a single Potter, at least not before the first movie came out. Although, I'm not sure if I would have read the books after the movies either.
I didn't want to read Potters because of the very ugly covers of the Finnish editions. Well, now those covers aren't anymore that ugly, because I have used to watch them many years, but back in the beginning of 2000 they were truly ugly, in my opinion. I wasn't a much of a reader back then either, I read mostly comics (and captions) so it wasn't tempting for me to read thick book with an ugly cover.
But I was forced. My friend forced me to read the first book when I was at secondary school at the beginning of 2000, after she got herself hooked. Thanks to my friend! What would have I lost if I wouldn't have read that book. It really washed me away. At that time, it was very rare for me that I would have read thick book in a whole, voluntarily, and even continued reading. All the 7 books. It's also the only book series which I've truly waited. I remember that I read the first three or four books in a row, but then, I started to wait for others to be published and translated. Potters were also my first book series which I started to collect. Every Christmas I got a new book whenever they were published.
Actually, I got a little bit disappointed last Christmas. I thought that it would have been truism that I was waiting Potter as a Christmas present. I was waiting for surprise. But it never came. I didn't want to really ask for the Cursed Child because I wanted to have the surprise moment and I imagined that I would get it anyway. But apparently others were thinking that I would already have it. Well, maybe I should buy it myself then, or then, I should wait for the next Christmas. Maybe I'll wait for the Christmas, I believe we will read the other Potters before that :)
I've also considered of getting the Potters in English too. That big of a fan I am. But at the moment, I'm not really sure if I should buy them as a paperbacks or should I even invest into those illustrated editions, there's two of them at the moment. After all, I would really like to have those illustrated editions. They are great! Although bulky. But on the other hand, it would also be great to have them in Finnish, because then it would be nicer to read them for possible own child. It's hard. I need to think this more. After all, I'm not on a hurry, there's only two of the books illustrated yet, Philosopher's Stone and Chamber of Secrets. And the prices might come downward yet.
