Aloin lukemaan taas Trudi Canavanin upeaa trilogiaa Black Magician Trilogy. Lupasin lainata kirjat koulukaverilleni jossain vaiheessa ja tajusin, että en ole itse vielä korkannut kirjoja, joten tuumasta toimeen!

Monen vuoden jälkeen kirja ei ole vieläkään menettänyt otettaan. Ahmin kirjaa kuin mikäkin ja vaikka tiesin mihin se päättyy, en kunnolla muistanut miten sinne päädyttiin. Edelleenkin kirjassa oli muutamia hankalia kohtia kielellisesti enkä kaikkea ymmärtänyt, mutta joka lukukerta sitä ymmärtää aina vähän enemmän. Suomennosta edelleen odotellessa.

Kovasti kirjasarjaa parjataa Harry Potter kopioksi. Velhoja, noitia, velhokoulu, värikoodatut kaavut, orpo lapsi joka on erikoinen. Ymmärrän kyllä miksi Harry Potter on otettu vertailuun, mutta muuten ei kyllä olla lähelläkään samoilla vesillä Pottereiden kanssa. Maailma on ihan erilainen ja taika jota käytetään on erilaista, koko tarina on erilainen. Kun Potteri on suunnattu ehkä hieman enemmän lapsille on Black Magician tarkoitettu ehkä enemmän aikuisille ja nuorille aikuisille.

Itse rakastan kirjasarjaa yli kaiken. Ensimmäinen osa on ehkä lempparini trilogiasta, mutta en ole vielä ihan varma asiasta. Pitää lukea vielä loputkin uudestaan. Toivon mukaan Isäntä muistaa tuoda kakkososan minulle kotoa.

Olen myös kovasti ajatellut, että tästä kirjasarjasta saisi myös loistavan leffan aikaiseksi. Periaatteessa tällaisille leffoille olisi juuri nyt ehkä hieman kysyntääkin. Mutta pelkään, että tälle kävisi samalla lailla kuin Eragonille, että se jäisi lopulta yhteen elokuvaan huonojen tulojen takia. Sen takia tekijöiksi pitäisikin saada tarpeeksi hyvä tiimi, koska tämä kirjasarja ansaitsee enemmän ja parempaa.

En oikein osaa sanoa mitään itse ensimmäisestä kirjasta. Muistelin, että slummeissa tapahtuvat asiat olisivat olleet hieman tylsää luettavaa, mutta eivät ne olleetkaan. Välillä oli ehkä hieman vaikea pysyä mukana kuka Varkaista oli kukin, mutta ei se haitannut. Loppujen lopuksi, vaikka kirjassa esitellään yllättävän monta hahmoa nimeltä, tapahtumat pyörivät kuitenkin vain harvojen ympärillä.

I started to read the amazing The Black Magician Trilogy by Trudi Canavan again. I promised to loan the books to my schoolmate but I realised that I still hadn't read my newly bought books yet so I had to read them first!

After many years, the book hasn't lost its charm. I devoured it and even though I knew the ending I didn't remember well how they get there. There were still some hard parts in the book to understand because it's in English, but each time I'm reading it I understand a little bit more every time. I'm still waiting for the translation.

The books have been slandered as Harry Potter copies. Wizards, witches, color coded robes, a special orphan. I do see why they compare the books but this isn't anything like Potters. The world is very different and the magic that is used is also different, the whole story is different. Potter is more of like childrens' book and this is more of like adults' and youngsters' books.

I love the series! I think, maybe, the first book is my favourite but I'm not sure yet. I need to read the others first. I hope my partner remembers to bring the second book to me from home.

I've also thought that this series would make a good movie. Basically there is some kind of a demand for these kind of movies right now. But I'm afraid that it would end up to be like Eragon and there would be only one movie because it won't get enough incomes. The movie would need very good makers and team to make it because it just deserves more and better.

I can't really say anything about the first book. I remembered that the part in the slums would have been boring but I was wrong. Sometimes it was a kind of hard to keep up with all the Thieves and remember who was who, but it didn't really bother me. After all, although the author introduces a lot of characters the events happens around only a few of them.
