Lapsia, juhlia ja muuta / Children, parties and else

English below

Olen ollut paljon juhlissa viime aikoina.

Ensin olimme siskontyttöni pojan ristiäisissä. Nimeksi tuli Mico Eerik.

Minä ja Mico / Me and Mico

Aarre! / The treasure!

Minä ja nuorimmaisin veljenlapsista, Silva, kohta 1v / Me and the youngest of my brother's children, Silva, almost 1 year old.

I've been in a lot of parties lately.

First we were in my niece's (from my sister's side) child's christening. Boy got a name Mico Eerik.

Then we were celebrating Vappu (The May Day, First of the May) with a picnic at forest with our friends. We even had treasure hunt :D We also celebrated two of our friends' birthdays and one of them had hidden a treasure in the forest the day before and we had even a map to find it. It was lot of fun.

And yesterday we were at my niece's (from my brother's side) birthday parties. She turned 4 years old.

And I've also made a contact for my summer job. I'm going to be a waitress in culture restaurant Kivi.

I must admit, with all these little children around me lately, I've started wanting a child myself. And that's really odd! I really doubted there isn't going to be this day, but apparently my biological clock started ticking finally. But it's not ticking very loudly. Just a feeble tic toc. I'm not going to start trying to have a child now! My life isn't in the right place for a child yet (and not my partner's). But maybe someday we can try and see if we can have a child, although I doubt it's not going to be easy. I don't have any medical proof for it, but it's just a feeling.

But first I need to get to school and graduate, we need our own house and I want to get the dogs first and later, let's see if we can think about this again. I'm afraid I'm going to be near 30 before that point and my partner would be 36... that doesn't sound very good... but what can you do. I'm not one of those who is going to study and take care of a child at the same time. I know that I would broke myself with that.

Five years is a long time, what if we have a little accident someday, you might ask... well, I assure you, that's not going to happen and there's a good reason for it, but that's enough of that.

But if I'll someday can have a child, I've been playing with the idea of making him or her bilingual :) We would teach her Finnish and English. It might be useful to him/her later. I need to improve my English skills before that :D Or maybe I'll let my partner to handle the English part.

Your English skills are very good, so I don't think you have to worry about that. Lots of people in Australia bring their children up to be bilingual and it's of great benefit to the children.

Thank you Parlance! I really appreciate your comment! I'm so unsure of my English all the time, it's nice to know I'm not as bad as I think I am :)
And like my partner said, the most important thing is to understand the language yourself and to use the language well enough so others understands you. Actually I know many bilinguals who speak fluently their other language but they probably can't write it or know anything about the gramma (like my best friend who is originally Estonian, she speaks well Estonian but can't write it, but she writes and speaks Finnish) and I've heard many our Finnish Swedes are the same, they may speak fluent Sweden but they are almost as poor in the grammar classes as our Finns :D
