Harry Potter ja Azkabanin vanki on huippusuositun sarjan kolmas kirja. Velhomainen sanataituri J.K. Rowling lumoaa jälleen lukijansa nerokkailla juonenkäänteillä ja taikuuden maailman kiehtovilla yksityiskohdilla.
Ymmärrän nyt miksi monet ovat tituleeranneet tämän kolmannen Potterin yhdeksi lemppareikseen. Se oli hyvä, ja tähänastisista kirjoista myös minun lempparini. Meillä kaikilla lukupiiriläisillä oli kuitenkin hyvin vaikea keskustella koko kirjasta, vaikka kaikki sanoivatkin, että kirja oli todella hyvä. Voi olla, että kirja on niin pitkä ja monen lukukerrasta oli jo sen verran aikaa, ettei enää oikein muistanut asioita joita oli tullut mieleen kirjaa lukiessa. Siispä päätimme turvautua muistiinpanoihin seuraavan kirjan kohdalla.
Elokuvasta minun on tosin sanottava sananen. Olen harmitellut elokuvia jo aikaisemminkin mutta nyt tuntuu siltä, että tämä oli viimeinen niitti Potter elokuville. Toki, elokuvat ovat hienoja ja ne ovat hyvin tehtyjä ja ovat mielenkiintoisia jne. Mutta niitä ei missään nimessä saisi katsoa heti kirjan lukemisen jälkeen. Tässä kolmannessakin elokuvassa jätettiin niin paljon asioita kertomatta, oi'ottiin asioita ja tehtiin eri tavalla kuin kirjassa. Se alkoi häiritä niin paljon, että elokuvaa katsellessa alkoi vain ärsyttää. Mutta onneksi elokuva näyttää niin hienolta ja maailmaan on ihana uppoutua joten sain laitettua ärsytykseni sivuun. Täytyy vain pitää elokuva ja kirjat vain omina teoksinaan ja toivoa, että ihmiset lukisivat kirjat! (Aion silti katsoa elokuvat heti kirjojen lukemisen jälkeen koska haluan tietää mikä on erilaista.)
En oikein osaa sanoa kirjasta mitään tämän enempää, olin unohtanut puolet jo silloin kun pidimme lukupiirin ja nyt tuntuu, että pitäisi lukea kirja uudestaan jotta siitä osaisi sanoa muutakin kuin että pidin siitä valtavasti. Olisin voinut ahmia kirjan nopeamminkin mutta aikataulusyistä (lähinnä opparin teon takia) en ehtinyt lukea niin paljon kuin olisin halunnut, joten luin kirjaa aika kauan. Seuraavaa aion lukea enemmän lyhyemmässä ajassa ja kirjoitan myös muistiinpanoja :)

I now understand why so many have said this third Potter is their favourites. It was good, and up to now, my favourite too. Although, it was hard for us all in our reading circle to discuss about this book, everyone still said they really liked the book. Maybe the book was too long and because many of us had read it a long time before we manage to organise the reading circle that, we didn't quite remember anymore what we thought about the book. That's why we decided to make notes when reading the next one.
I do have something to say about the movie, though. I've been complaining about the earlier movies but now I had it. Of course, the movies are fine and they are well made and interesting etc. But it's a mistake to watch them right after you've read the book. In this third movie, there were so many things untold, straightened and made different than in a book. It really started to irk me so much while watching the movie. Luckily, the movie looks so amazing that I could move that aside and just enjoy getting absorbed in the world. I just have to keep the movies and books apart from each other and hope that people would read the books! (I'm still going to watch the movies right after finishing the books because I want to see what's different.)
I can't say anything else about this book. I already had forgotten half of it when we had our reading circle and now it feels that I should read it again so I could say something more than just I really liked the book. I could have gobbled the whole book even faster but because of the schedule difficulties (mostly because I was making my thesis) I couldn't read as much as I would have liked, so it took me quite a time to finish this book. Next one I'm going to read faster and this time I'm going to take notes :)
