And in such terrible weather conditions too! I don't know how you did it - you must have been so exhausted.

I can totally sympathise with you about the many families in different places - in our case, different countries! - and we also used to spend a lot of our holidays in a mad, stressful rush trying to see everybody but to be honest, in recent years, we have decided to become a bit more selfish, even if it means it might hurt people's feelings because it is just too tiring/stressful (and also too expensive in our case with plane tickets) to keep tryign to see all the family all the time - and this should be your own holiday, really, to rest and relax!

But anyway, it sounds like you had a wonderful festive time with your family. I love your descriptions of all the things you did - mmm, I LOVE mulled wine! And that rice porridge for breakfast sounds very interesting - how funny, the Taiwanese also eat a kind of rice porridge for breakfast! Do you have it plain? Is it sweet or savoury? We have ours plain but with savoury accompanients, like pickle and shredded pork and salty egg - I really love it although I can't really eat it unless I'm back in Taiwan (it is too much trouble to cook it myself and anyway, I can't get those special pickes & things overseas).

Hope you enjoy your new pot!

Hsin-Yi (& Honey the Great Dane)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09116997529248428606noreply@blogger.com
